Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Growth
Partner with Business Development to build and maintain strong relationships with:
Owners & Developers
Architects
Municipal and public stakeholders
Industry associations
Maintain a robust pipeline of targeted opportunities
Drive win rates aligned with profitability goals
Collaborate with estimating and finance teams to ensure accurate, competitive estimates for:
Civil site work
Paving
Heavy highway
Utilities & infrastructure (water, sewer, storm drainage preferred)
Develop revenue and profit forecasts while identifying risk and opportunity
Monitor divisional financial performance
Identify areas of project risk and operational improvement
Ensure projects meet time, budget, and margin expectations
Lead divisional managers in planning and executing work efficiently
Promote adoption of innovative construction practices and technologies
Ensure alignment with safety, quality, and schedule objectives
Identify contractual and project-related risks
Implement mitigation strategies to protect company performance
Partner with HR and leadership teams to drive:
Recruiting and retention
Career path development
Performance management best practices
Training and leadership development programs
Succession planning
Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and team pride
10–15 years in senior field operations leadership (Director of Field Operations, Senior Project Manager, or similar)
Experience with a major ENR Top 100 contractor preferred
Proven success delivering large-scale civil/site construction projects on time and within budget
Background in design-build, negotiated, and/or lump sum contracts
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (preferred)
MBA a plus
Professional certifications/designations a plus
Strong executive leadership and decision-making skills
High emotional intelligence and people leadership capability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to coach, mentor, and develop leaders
Skilled at working cross-functionally and influencing at all levels
Calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure
Primarily office-based with periodic field presence. Regular sitting, occasional standing and light lifting (up to 10 lbs), and standard visual and communication requirements.
