Job Description

Job Description
Walker Consultants is seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join our growing Structural Engineering team! This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-senior level professional with experience in both new design and restoration projects to make a meaningful impact. In this role, you’ll work on the structural analysis, design, and management of new construction projects while also evaluating existing structures, developing repair strategies, and overseeing restoration efforts.

As part of our Pacific Northwest team, you’ll help shape skylines and preserve structures across a region known for its architectural diversity, seismic challenges, and forward-looking design standards. Your work will directly contribute to creating resilient, innovative, and lasting solutions for our clients and communities.
What You'll Do
  • Lead or contribute to the preparation of project documents, schedules, and budgets.
  • Perform structural modeling, analysis, and design for gravity and lateral systems in concrete, masonry, and steel structures.
  • Conduct field investigations, condition appraisals, and testing of existing buildings to identify deficiencies, deterioration, or failures.
  • Review and critique plans, specifications, calculations, and shop drawings prepared by others.
  • Visit construction sites to observe progress, prepare field reports, and respond to design-related questions.
  • Monitor project performance, ensuring compliance with requirements, budgets, and procedural standards.
  • Mentor and coordinate engineers, design staff, and technical personnel, supporting training and professional development.
  • Develop repair strategies, restoration schemes, and technical recommendations.
  • Build and maintain client relationships; promote Walker’s consulting services to new and existing clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited University, Master's degree preferred.
  • Structural Engineering (SE) licensure required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
We offer a robust total compensation and rewards package designed to support our employees’ well-being, growth, and diverse needs, including:
  • Annual discretionary bonus program
  • Opportunity to purchase Walker stock – Walker is 100% employee-owned!
  • Medical, dental, vision, company-paid life insurance
  • Mental wellness benefits
  • Health Savings Account with company contribution
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Flexible Spending Accounts and Commuter Spending Accounts
  • 529 college savings plan
  • A minimum of 3 weeks of Paid Time Off per year
  • 9 paid holidays per year, including 3 paid floating holidays
  • 5 days of bereavement leave and PTO Donation Bank to help during difficult times
  • 100% compensation replacement during short-term disability leaves
  • Paid parental leave that allows an additional week of paid time alongside short-term disability leave and/or applicable state paid leave programs
  • Paid community involvement hours
  • Tuition and licensure reimbursement and sponsorship of professional memberships
  • Internal conferences and professional development opportunities
  • Employee Resource Groups and Affinity Groups
At Walker Consultants, we are committed to maintaining fairness and equity in our pay practices. For this role, the estimated base salary range is $125,000 – $175,000 per year. The final salary offered may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. We value open conversations about compensation and welcome the opportunity to discuss more about base salary and Walker’s total rewards philosophy during the recruiting process.

What makes this opportunity even more exciting is our true ownership program. At Walker, our equity-based model allows shareholders to directly benefit from the firm’s success, rather than a traditional ESOP that focuses only on stock appreciation. It’s a unique chance to grow with a company that values its people.
Why Walker Consultants?

At Walker Consultants, you’ll do more than just engineering—you’ll make a lasting impact. Since 1965, we’ve been trailblazers in structural engineering and parking design, and today our expertise extends across forensics, restoration, building envelope consulting, MEP systems, and vertical transportation. Our nationwide reach means you’ll work on diverse, high-profile projects while collaborating with some of the best minds in the industry. As a 100% employee-owned firm, we invest in your growth, value your voice, and give you the opportunity to share in our collective success. At Walker, you’ll find the chance to build resilient, sustainable structures—and an equally strong career.

Join Us!
We know that great talent comes in many forms. If you're excited about this role but don’t meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply! You might just be the right person for this role—or another opportunity on our team.
At Walker Consultants, we are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We welcome and encourage applications from individuals of all abilities. If you require any accommodations during the application or interview process, or in the workplace, please let us know—we will work with you to ensure a fair and accessible experience.
Walker Consultants is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE). We invite all qualified applicants to apply and do not discriminate against individuals because of their race, color, religion, national origin, gender, physical or mental disability, veteran status, or age.
