Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Salem, Virginia 24153

Healthcare Setting : Main Hospital – Medical-Surgical Unit (36 beds)

Assignment Duration : 13-week travel nursing contract (Start : 1 / 5 / 2026 – End : 4 / 6 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour night shifts (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM)

Hours per Week : 36

Employment Type : Travel RN position

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state

BLS certification required

Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg nursing experience

Experience with post-operative patient care preferred

Proficiency in wound care, dressing changes, and drain management preferred

Strong teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced clinical environment

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical and post-operative patients

Perform wound care, dressing changes, and manage surgical drains

Monitor patient safety, comfort, and progress throughout the shift

Collaborate with clinical coordinators, fellow RNs, and healthcare technicians to achieve optimal patient outcomes

Document all patient care activities accurately using Meditech EMR

Advocate for patients and contribute to a positive healthcare experience
