Assistant Nurse Manager
The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient centered Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to support our NEW Urbandale Clinic. This position will provide managerial and clinical nursing leadership for clinical outpatient services at the Urbandale Clinic location under the direction of the Nurse Manager to assure that all staff provide safe clinical care and have the education, methods, and resources to accomplish performance objectives. This position has some involvement in direct patient care as well as planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving health care operations, clinical education programs, and research programs of clinical and health service departments.
- Initial training and work will be based at our Jordan Creek and Johnston Clinic until our Urbandale location opens.
Position Responsibilities :
Human Resources ManagementAssist in hiring nursing unit staff through effective and timely recommendations.Staff DevelopmentDevelop and manage the talents, strengths, and behaviors of assigned staff as directed by management.Assists in matters of promotion, transfers, and disciplinary action, as directed by management.Coaches staff to participate in team decision-making and actively seek participation from assigned staff on decision-making and customer service improvement activities.Provides staff incentives / rewards for contributions towards achievement of service excellence.Performance ManagementCompletes staff evaluations, for assigned staff, on time with written, solid justification.Assure staff members are compliant with competencies, policies, procedures, and regulations.Employee Labor RelationsUnderstand and apply appropriately the provisions in the union contracts.Creates an atmosphere which provides for effective recruitment and retention of qualified staff.OtherEncourages staff / employees to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations. Schedule : 40 hours per week, Monday Friday, variable hours between 7 : 00 AM 5 : 00 PM; no weekends
Availability to provide support to other clinics within a 2-hour radius required. Fleet Car provided. Paid drive time.

A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required. Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.Certification / Licenses Required :
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa required.Current BLS certification required.Job-related certification in a role or specialty through a nationally recognized professional certification body. If not currently certified, must seek certification in a role or specialty as soon as eligible to sit for the exam.Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.Experience Required :
