Summary

The Lead Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all products meet established quality standards through detailed inspection and compliance verification. This position serves as the lead within the Quality Department, working closely with the Quality Manager on process improvements, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires advanced technical inspection skills, strong documentation practices, and a deep understanding of aerospace or manufacturing quality systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Including but not limited to :

Technical Inspection & Measurement

Perform mechanical inspections using a variety of hand tools, gauges, and advanced measurement systems such as portable CMMs (e.g., Hexagon Arm with PC-DMIS), optical comparators, profilometers, and hardness testers.

Inspect raw materials including extrusions, sheet metal, castings, and purchased components.

Conduct in-process, final, and source inspections to verify product conformance to specifications.

Documentation & Auditing

Prepare and maintain aerospace or industry-related documentation, including FAA records, AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports, and FAIRs in Net-Inspect or equivalent systems.

Conduct internal audits and prepare detailed audit reports.

Review purchase orders, certification packages, and related documentation to ensure compliance with standards and requirements.

Create and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs).

Support quality improvement initiatives and projects under the direction of the Quality Manager.

Compliance & Safety

Review specifications and regulatory requirements to ensure product and shipment compliance.

Follow all company safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Qualifications

Education and / or Experience

Certificate or degree from a college or technical school preferred.

In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations and aerospace manufacturing standards.

DMIR (Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative) experience is a plus.

Equivalent combination of education and relevant quality inspection experience will be considered.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, safety rules, and work instructions.

Strong written communication skills for preparing reports and correspondence using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Ability to communicate effectively with teams, customers, and management.

Mathematical Skills

  • Proficiency in applying mathematical concepts such as geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to inspection and measurement activities.

Reasoning Ability

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle a variety of situations where limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands to handle or feel objects, and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may sit. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
