Job Description :
United Trades of America is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist (Operator / Programmer) for a manufacturing client in Decatur, AL. This position requires expertise in creating, modifying, and executing CNC machine programs to fabricate metal or plastic parts with precision. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in CNC machining, blueprint interpretation, and CAD / CAM software, along with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize machining processes.
Key Responsibilities :
- Blueprint Interpretation : Read and analyze detailed engineering drawings, including tolerances and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), to determine machining requirements.
- CNC Programming : Develop CNC programs using CAD / CAM software, defining tool paths, cutting speeds, feed rates, and machining sequences to produce parts with tight tolerances.
- Tool and Material Selection : Choose appropriate cutting tools and machining parameters based on material type, desired finish, and operations required.
- Machine Setup : Set up CNC machines, mount workpieces, install tooling, and adjust machine parameters according to program specifications.
- Program Testing and Optimization : Conduct test runs to verify program accuracy, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments to improve machining efficiency.
- Quality Control : Monitor machine operations to ensure parts meet quality standards and specifications, using precision measuring tools as needed.
- Troubleshooting : Diagnose and resolve machining errors, including tool wear, machine malfunctions, and inconsistencies in programs.
- Documentation : Maintain detailed records of CNC programs, tool selections, machining parameters, and process improvements.
Required Skills :
Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, including G-code programming, coordinate systems, and machine capabilities.Proficiency in CAD / CAM software for designing and generating CNC programs.Mechanical aptitude and ability to visualize complex geometries and machining processes.Attention to detail and ability to meet tight tolerances.Problem-solving skills to address machining issues effectively.Effective communication with engineers, machinists, and quality inspectors to clarify design requirements and resolve challenges.Work Environment :
Primarily in a machine shop environment near CNC machines.Requires standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting heavy workpieces.Exposure to noise, vibration, and coolant mist is common.How to Apply :
