  • 8 and 12 hr shifts
  • Every third weekend rotation
  • Holiday rotation
  • Sign-On Bonus : $15,000 for 3rd Shift

    Student Loan Forgiveness : Up to $20,000

    Unit Overview : Be a part of our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit where you will provide care for a diverse and complex patient population including :

  • Post-operative care for craniotomies, cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.
  • Care for patients with hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program .
  • Support for a high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, alongside medical overflow cases.
  • Join the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , which offers exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge patient care.

  • Deliver and coordinate comprehensive, evidence-based patient care utilizing the nursing process.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective care.
  • Apply clinical judgment and critical thinking to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute positively to the patient experience throughout the continuum of care.

  • Major Responsibilities :

  • Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs and craft individualized care plans, fostering a therapeutic patient-family relationship.
  • Identify significant changes in patient conditions and implement appropriate interventions swiftly.
  • Reduce patient risk and enhance safety by supporting patient education based on readiness to learn.
  • Coordinate discharge plans through collaborative, interdisciplinary efforts.
  • Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes while taking action to improve as needed.
  • Facilitate effective communication and conflict resolution within the healthcare team.
  • Promote a safety culture by identifying and intervening against potential risks to patient safety.
  • Engage in ethical decision-making and maintain professional relationships across disciplines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance departmental functions and patient experiences.
  • Seek ongoing professional development opportunities and contribute to the growth of peers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary for caring for patients across the lifespan with age-specific considerations.
  • Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Education Required :

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing program.
  • Experience Required :

  • Typically requires at least 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

  • Ability to provide holistic patient care with a focus on patient and family perspectives.
  • Flexibility and confidence in responding to unplanned clinical situations.
  • Proficient with computer systems including electronic medical records.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize in high-demand settings.
  • Team building and delegation skills.
  • Maintains annual educational requirements for hospital certifications.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

  • Ability to engage in physical activities such as lifting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and carrying up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Competent in pushing / pulling with 30 lbs. of force and performing sliding transfers with assistance.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, thus protective gear may be required.
  • Functional capabilities for speech, vision, hearing, and touch needed for tasks such as IV insertion.
