Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an adult Med / Surg Telemetry position in a mixed unit, requiring AZ or compact licensure and proven telemetry skills.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care setting on a mixed adult Med / Surg Telemetry unit that shares space with pediatric patientsAssigned only to adult MSTELE patients and may float to the MST unit to care for adult patients as neededPatient population includes post-surgical, medical, and telemetry adults; common cases include total joint replacements, small bowel resections, respiratory infections, and chest pain10-bed unit with adult MST ratios up to 1 : 512-hour day shifts with every other weekend requirementMust work both Peds and adult MSTELE units, though assignment is adults onlyFloating required to other adult care units as census demandsUnit uses Cerner EMR and requires RNs to interpret telemetry stripsRemote Monitor Techs assist with telemetry for adults; bedside monitoring for pediatricsMay need to administer high flow oxygen and provide care for stable adults on BiPAP for chronic conditionsHoliday rotation requiredMay be asked to mentor nursing students during the assignmentTraining and orientation provided based on prior experience, including a hospital orientationMust wear navy scrubs as per dress codeStandby or call requirements may occur during periods of low census on a rotating basisCharge RN oversees operations across multiple units including MST, PEDS, and MCUNursing assistants cover up to 10 patients; RNs take over primary care if no NA is availableFirst day testing on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is requiredRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of applicationA minimum of 2 years recent acute care experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam within two attempts prior to contract signingProven proficiency in telemetry patient care, including reading of stripsMust provide 2 recent professional references, including one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsCopy of driver's license required for considerationMust not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit, CHI or Dignity facility in the past 12 monthsPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facilityBenefits
