American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute setting, requiring current IL RN licensure and specialty certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital Labor & Delivery unitUnit includes 4 L&D beds, 1 OR suite, 4 triage beds, and 6 postpartum bedsPatient population includes low and high-risk OB patients and stable newborns at least 36 weeks gestationUnit follows AWHONN staffing guidelinesCentral fetal, newborn, and adult monitoring with Philips, EPIC, and OBIX systemsUtilizes equipment such as Neopuff, heated high flow nasal cannula, and CPAP for newborns12-hour night shifts, 7 : 00 pm – 7 : 30 amThree weekend shifts required within each 6-week scheduleHoliday rotation may apply if assignment overlaps holidaysFloating required to other units for RN support duties and sitter responsibilitiesNo regular on-call, but may be placed on standby during low censusUnit-specific orientation provided for 2-3 daysCare for laboring and postpartum women, manage newborn stabilization, and circulate C-sectionsSupport from charge nurses, house supervisors, and certified OB techs who act as surgical scrub techsOB physician on-call 24 / 7, typically present during active labor; newborn pediatrician also on-call 24 / 7Hospital provides scrubs for use in the OR; otherwise, nurse choice of attireCOVID-19 vaccination is not required for this assignmentCandidates living within 50 miles will be offered local ratesHoliday shifts may be required based on unit needsNegative drug screen required before employmentFirst-time travelers are not excluded from consideration\n \n Requirements\n
Active IL RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 1 year recent Labor & Delivery experienceCurrent certifications : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and C-EFM requiredExperience stabilizing newborns and circulating for C-sections requiredMust be able to titrate Pitocin and Magnesium dripsProficiency with EPIC EMR preferredAbility to read fetal heart rate strips using central monitoring\n Benefits\n
