We are looking for an engineering manager to help us scale, improve organisational transparency, provide career development, mentorship, and honest feedback for our smart and talented engineers. Using your varying technical backgrounds and interests, you will drive and provide general technical direction and oversight. You will keep teams efficient and executing on the right goals. We build teams that are inclusive, helpful, and have a strong sense of ownership for the things they build.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of our core platform technologies, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Extend and improve engineering best practices across the organisation, driving the adoption of robust infrastructure automation, site reliability engineering (SRE) principles, integrated security, and maximising developer efficiency
  • Maintain and improve a collaborative environment, acting as a key bridge between application development teams and the platform team. Commit to driving complex platform initiatives to completion
  • Motivate and instil a strong sense of ownership in your team for the end-to-end lifecycle, stability, scalability, and performance of our core platform services.
  • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of your team members, championing growth in areas of advanced cloud infrastructure, resilient SRE principles, and proactive DevSecOps practices.
  • Ensures that the team delivers high quality products and solutions by following the best practices, e.g. testing, observability, infrastructure as code, and security by design etc.
  • Build and scale teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other, fostering a culture of safety and continuous learning.
  • Provide continuous, actionable feedback, address underperformance proactively, and recognise the individual strengths and contributions of your team members to maximise their impact and career progression.
  • Work closely with engineers and collaborate with key stakeholders to define, maintain a prioritised backlog, and establish clear short-term and long-term goals for the platform roadmap, treating the platform as a core product.
  • Own your team's deliverables and ensure the continuous delivery of scalable, highly-available, and cost-efficient platform services and infrastructure.
  • Work closely with the recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds with expertise in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, and DevSecOps

Must-haves :

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on technical experience in cloud-native environments, specifically with distributed systems and platform development, demonstrating the ability to contribute to planning, drive technical decisions, and perform high-quality code reviews
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in directly leading and managing platform, DevOps, or SRE teams, with a proven track record of guiding their career development and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Proven experience in guiding teams through the full lifecycle of complex infrastructure and platform development projects, including planning, prioritisation, and successful execution.
  • Expertise in designing, building, refactoring, and operating distributed systems and scalable cloud infrastructure at scale.
  • Expertise in event-driven architecture and various Messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, Pub / Sub)
  • Strong knowledge of both relational (SQL) and NoSQL database technologies and their operational considerations in cloud environments
  • Extensive hands-on experience and deep understanding of core AWS services (e.g., EC2, EKS, Lambda, SQS, Security Groups, IAM, Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail). Proven expertise with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) for managing complex cloud environments.
  • Strong experience with containerisation technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes), including Helm and related ecosystem tools.
  • Extensive experience with modern monitoring, logging, and observability platforms (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Jaeger / OpenTelemetry), with a focus on defining SLOs / SLIs.
  • Strong familiarity with DevSecOps practices and the implementation of automated security tooling throughout the CI / CD pipeline (e.g., SAST, DAST, secret management, vulnerability scanning)
  • Practical knowledge and experience with various testing methodologies (Unit, Integration, Feature, Mocking) as applied to infrastructure components and platform services to ensure reliability and correctness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Fluency in English is required.
  • Good to have :

  • Expert knowledge of various architectural patterns (PaaS / SaaS, SOA, Microservices, Event-Driven), advanced cloud networking (e.g., VPC design, network security, service mesh), and cloud security best practices within the AWS ecosystem.
  • Proven track record of actively improving developer experience (DX) by designing and implementing self-service tooling, internal developer platforms (IDP), and comprehensive automation.
  • Prior work experience in highly regulated industries or environments with extremely high demands for uptime, resilience, and data integrity (e.g., Fintech, Telecommunications, Gaming).
  • Experience with budgetary management and cost optimisation for cloud infrastructure.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in relevant technical communities.
  • Experience with incident management, post-mortems, and root cause analysis in a production environment.
  • Experience driving adoption of new technologies and practices across multiple engineering teams. (Highlights influence and strategic impact.)
  • Knowledge of eSIM and GSMA related technologies and services.
