Position Summary

This individual in this position will perform, result, report and evaluate all diagnostic laboratory testing processed and performed at University Health Center independently, accurately and in a timely manner.

Additional Education, Experience, Licensure, and / or Certification

Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field and has satisfied the academic requirements of the State of Georgia Laboratory Licensure Law, chapter 290-5-29-.06. Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Scientisted ( MLS ) ( ASCP -certifed) or equivalent. Two years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience as a medical laboratory scientist.

Preferred : Electrocardiograms and Phlebotomy qualifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies

Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and employees within the organization.

Physical Demands

• Able to see objects closely, as in reading and microscopy.
• Able to decipher color.
• Able to hear normal sounds, as in answering telephone.
• Able to give and receive verbal commands.
• Able to push, pull or lift objects with minimum effort continuously, moderate effort frequently, and maximum effort occasionally.
• Able to sit, stand, or remain on feet for 50 minutes consecutively, 8 hours per shift.
• Able to perform motor skills.
