Responsibilities

• Develop programs for the management of NHMFL Safety department such as laboratory safety training and record keeping, controlled access procedure, confined space procedure, lock out tag program, hearing conservation program, magnetic field safety program, emergency action plan, respiratory protection, cryogenic handling procedures, radiation safety, tool and equipment safety, blood borne pathogen procedures, fire alarm system and extinguisher management, personal protective equipment program and other programs as required, life safety audits and reviews, and laboratory workers compensation.
• Assist the Safety Manager in managing the NHMFL security system, including the electronic access control system, key and access card issuance, and investigations of theft and damage.
• Interprets and ensures compliance with federal and state laws, University rules and environmental health and safety guidelines. Creates NHMFL specific safety, and security procedures.
• Develop training and procedures regarding safety hazards such as laboratory safety training, and laboratory safety procedures and practices.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note : a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
