Intake Specialist
(Puyallup, WA – In-Office if Local / Remote if Non-Local )

Main Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to) :
This role is onsite for candidates within commuting distance of our Puyallup office and remote for those outside the local area
Audit patient intake packet and identify a new patient versus a readmitted patientCreate patient profile and ensure correct data entry of demographicsAccurately verify eligibility for each insurance payer identified, and update patient profile with correct COBNavigate multiple insurance payer sites to verify patient eligibility
Make outbound calls to insurance eligibility departmentsCollaborate with facility’s business office regarding insurance verificationVerify possible Medicaid coverage for every registrationIdentify payers where prior authorization is needed and submit authorization request accordinglyCreate detailed documentation surrounding work performed on each individual accountPrioritize registration completion based on urgency and day of wound roundsRespond to intake inquires via email and / or phoneComplete accurate and timely data entry of the patient’s past medical history and allergiesEnsure all patient visits are added on the providers daily census within EMRPrep new patient electronic chart for providersAnswer incoming business office phone lineOther duties as assignedSkills required to succeed :
1-2 years medical billing experience and working with insurance companies is requiredMust live in one of the following states : WA, OR, ID, UT, AZ, TX, VA, FL, GA, PA, IAAcute attention to detail with a strong, self-sufficient work ethicExcellent organization and use of time management skillsAbility to prioritize workload and have a strong sense of urgency when time sensitive situations ariseProficient with computers and navigating within multiple applicationsProficient in MS Office (specifically Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word)Strong verbal and written communication, as well as customer service skills; must be able to listen and communicate effectively with leadership, providers, and co-workersKnowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations including the requirements of the HIPAA and OSHA regulations pertinent to medical practicesAbility to collaborate with other UWH team members electronically via email, messaging, and telephone conferencesGoal-oriented and a consistent performerMust be self-motivated, punctual, dependable, and able to work independentlyMust be trustworthy, honest and have a positive and professional attitudeLocation : In-office for local candidates (commuting distance of Puyallup, WA) - Remote option available for qualified candidates outside the area
Compensation : $19.00 - $23.00 hourly - DOE and location
This position is classified as : Hourly, Non-Exempt ; Full-Time employment
Hours : Typical hours are Monday through Friday; 7 : 30am – 4 : 00pm PST, (occasional overtime depending on claim volume)
