JOB DESCRIPTION
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE :
We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a temporary IT Assistant (Help Desk). The work schedule consists of working around 10-15 hours a week, not to exceed 1,000 hours within a fiscal year. Availability to work Tuesday through Thursday for approximately 4-5 hours a day is highly desirable.
This individual will be the first point of contact for technical support, primarily responsible for answering phones , managing the ticket queue , imaging computers , and creating user accounts . This role requires someone who is not only technically capable but also passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.

JOB SUMMARY :
Provides computer software, hardware and phone problem resolutions to City staff through the computer help desk. Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves basic to intermediate level one problems for users of City owned computer software applications and hardware, the City communications network, and the Internet. Maintains a current inventory of all computer hardware and software supported by the Information Technology division. Acts as the first point of contact for technology related problem resolution and performs other duties as assigned.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS :
This position is distinguished from the Network Administrator by the nature, scope, and complexity of the technological responsibilities. The Network Administrator provides a wide range of professional support services to City staff including designing, planning, installing, operating and maintaining the City's complex information technology systems.
SUPERVISION
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED :
Employees in this classification receive supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures from the Information Technology Support Services Supervisor.
May provide instruction, direction and work review to less experienced, part-time staff or volunteers on a project basis.

An equivalent combination of education and experience.
An Associate's degree in computer science or information technology is preferred.
