Description

The Associate Researcher is responsible for conducting and assisting routine and standardized experiments specific to a project that identifies and investigates novel genomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomic changes related to physical activity, as well as chemical and biological exposures. The candidate will work with researchers from multiple centers across the country to coordinate various aspects of the project.

The Associate Researcher is responsible for conducting and assisting routine and standardized experiments specific to a project that identifies and investigates novel genomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomic changes related to physical activity, as well as chemical and biological exposures. The candidate will work with researchers from multiple centers across the country to coordinate various aspects of the project.

Responsibilities

• Under minimum supervision, performs automated and manual DNA and RNA extractions from peripheral blood, saliva, stool, and tissues using Beckman Coulter Biomek workstations.
• Performs automated and manual RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, methylation, miRNAseq, and single-cell library preparations.
• Performs quality control (QC) of nucleic acids and libraries using spectroscopy and gel electrophoresis using SpectraMax, Bioanalyzer 2100, and Fragment Analyzer instruments.
• Analyze and interpret nucleic acid and library QC data
• Prepares and sequences various libraries using Illumina MiSeq and NextSeq 2000 platforms.
• Responsible for independently maintaining and reporting experimental data, tracking sample progress, and entering data into various databases.
• May assist in assay development, project planning, and data analysis as needed.
• If motivated, co-authorship on publications is possible.
• Must be a motivated team player who will be able to work independently and in a team.
• Must be analytical and possess excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Must be able to multitask and work under project deadlines.
• Must have strong attention to detail.
• Carry out other related work as assigned.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.5 - $34.1212 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses / incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
