Job Summary
The Production Manager will oversee and manage the day‑to‑day production operations at Mack Studios. This role ensures that all production activity - from fabrication and assembly to quality control and dispatch - is executed efficiently, on time, within budget and to the high standards our clients expect. The ideal candidate will partner with design, fabrication, logistics and installation teams to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule and coordinate production workflows to meet project deadlines, quantity targets and quality standards.
- Oversee resource allocation including manpower, materials, equipment and shop floor scheduling.
- Monitor production performance, including throughput, yield, scrap / waste, overtime, and labour utilization; identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control standards and inspect finished work for conformity to client specifications and company standards.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal utilization.
- Partner with procurement / logistics to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components; manage inventory levels and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Collaborate with design and project management teams to verify feasibility of build schedules, understand deliverables and respond to changes in scope or schedule.
- Implement health & safety protocols, ensuring the production environment is safe, compliant with regulations and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, process optimisation, cost reduction and workflow standardisation.
- Prepare and present production reports and KPIs (e.g., on‑time delivery, cost variances, scrap rates) to senior management.
- Supervise, train and develop production staff; foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and excellence.
- Manage budgets related to production operations, labor cost, overtime, equipment and materials.
- Escalate issues such as schedule delays, resource constraints or quality problems in a timely manner and propose actionable solutions.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 5 years' experience in production management or operations in a manufacturing, design / build or fabrication environment. Experience with large‑scale displays, exhibits, or custom fabrication firms is a plus.Proven experience managing production schedules, budgets, resources, quality and teams.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with ability to motivate and manage a diverse production workforce.Excellent organizational, analytical and problem‑solving skills. Able to identify bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.Solid knowledge of safety regulations, equipment maintenance, inventory control and fabrication workflows.Proficiency with production planning tools, project management software, ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, reporting).Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable reporting to senior leadership and cross‑functional collaboration.Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project demands.Strong commitment to quality, cost‑control and on‑time delivery.Preferred
Experience in design / build / display fabrication industry.Knowledge of CAD / fabrication workflows or CNC / metal & wood shop environment.Previous track record of driving process improvement initiatives and achieving measurable operational metrics.What Mack Studios Offers
