Description
Systems Engineer
The Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance of computer desktops, including remote computers, and associated peripherals for both hosted and on-premises systems. Additionally, the Engineer will be required to resolve employee-reported problems, install hardware and software, and provide general IT support. Additional tasks include license tracking, solving user problems, providing proactive support advice, contributing to product quality and enhancements, and creating self-help IT resources. This individual will also serve as a frontline technical resource for users utilizing our software.
Specific Responsibilities Include :
- Provide support and resolve problems with a positive client experience.
- Respond to scheduled service tickets, update, resolve, and adapt to adjusted service schedules for client priority and emergency tickets.
- Manage network operations to include troubleshooting connectivity problems, installing & maintaining routers / firewall, adding / terminating users, assigning rights and access, resetting passwords, configuring workstations and peripheral equipment, assessing and reporting operational status, as well as performing backups and restores.
- Develop and maintain technology policies, standards, and procedures manual; develop and maintain related technology checklists.
- Responsible for troubleshooting workstations, networks, software applications, phones, printers, and other technologies.
- Investigate a user’s issue by collecting relevant facts and determine the problem through research and collaboration with involved parties to resolve service issues.
- Support and maintain internal applications.
- Assist in identification of system improvements to reduce support case volume.
- Perform network monitoring diagnostics and proactive and preventative maintenance to ensure systems are operational and running at peak performance.
- Follow established change control oversight, modify system configurations, utilities, software, and hardware settings for assigned service ticket devices.
- Assist with the onboarding and off-boarding of employees and / or contractors.
- Oversee asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
- Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required.
- Be available after-hours, if needed.
Qualifications and Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.Microsoft certification(s) a plus.5–7 years of computer operations, networking management, and production support experience.Azure DevOps experience is a plus.Experience working with both an in-house and remote workforce.Technical Skills :
Experience supporting web applications and a strong knowledge of web application architectures.Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.Experience documenting the user experience and determining the root cause of technical issues.Competency in support processes, SLA, issue resolution, monitoring, and metrics.Must have experience with the following Microsoft software :Microsoft Windows professional version desktop operating systemsMicrosoft Office applicationsMicrosoft Business applications (Lync, Skype, Visio, O365, Microsoft Teams, etc.).Must be highly proficient with Windows Active Directory user support.Network Printer / Scanner setup and support.Skills and Abilities :
