The Clinical Educator – Point of Care serves as the unit educator for new employee orientation and facilitates annual development of team members through formal and informal in-services and training programs. This role supports bedside clinical team members, fosters empowerment through evidence-based nursing practice, collaborates with the clinical education team to provide orientation and retraining, and ensures quality documentation and compliance with hospital policies, nursing procedures, and regulatory standards. The educator participates in planning and implementing initiatives aimed at improving clinical quality outcomes, achieving departmental goals, and driving enhancements in retention, patient satisfaction, and safe care practices. Acting as a clinical subject-matter expert, the Clinician serves as an internal consultant to leadership, ensuring professional standards are integrated into decision-making and practice, while functioning as an educator, change agent, and researcher.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, design, present, and coordinate educational programs, in-services, and orientation for departmental team members.
  • Lead continuing education for unit team members, including mentoring and serving as a clinical resource.
  • Collaborate weekly with the unit manager and other clinical personnel to identify learning needs and improvement areas for patient care outcomes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based standards and educational best practices.
  • Provide team-member development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader, and researcher.
  • Deliver a comprehensive orientation program for all newly hired staff.
  • Conduct in-services and programs as required, and document all education and training activities.
  • Promote a learning climate that encourages motivation through adult-learning principles.
  • Participate in departmental quality efforts and develop educational programs aligned with quality monitoring needs.
  • Pursue new developments in education and training methodology and engage in activities that support professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing – Required.
  • Master's Degree within three (3) years of employment – Required.
  • 1–3 years of acute-care nursing experience – Required.
  • 2 years of acute-care, ED, or critical-care nursing experience – Preferred.
  • Strongly preferred : Classroom teaching experience and EKG / Cardiac experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse – Licensed in State of Florida or eligible compact state; upon hire.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) – American Heart Association; upon hire.
  • ACLS Provider (ACLS) – American Heart Association; upon hire.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) – upon hire.
  • Professional Nursing Certification within 3 years – required.
  • Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Demonstrates leadership skills and a commitment to education as a methodology for continuous quality improvement in patient care.
  • Proficient in EMR, CPOE, and medication administration programs.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
