Job Overview

Responsible for the daily operation and workflow of the Nuclear Medicine team.

Additional Information
Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30-4pm. Weekends and holidays will be required as part of a leadership call rotation.

Eligible Incentives: Relocation assistance available for qualified external applicants.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implements annual work plans to achieve goals and performance metrics.

  • Participates in leadership activities for department, contributing to the achievement of goals and objectives; evaluates team performance. Defines and maintains internal processes for section; supports customer service standards and handles operational and customer service escalations for section. Serves as a champion of organization culture, influencing culture change to support section objectives.

  • Manages communications to the organization on projects and hot topics related to section. Maintains effective working relationships with peers in section, peers in other divisions, and senior leadership.

  • Directs day to day technical duties for department. Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction and develops team members. Evaluates performance of team members, providing continuous feedback. Manages discipline and performance issues; hires and fires team members. Identifies resource needs and develops recommendations for meeting needs.

  • Provides high quality patient care through the use of effective communication that explains the exam and ensures patient comfort and safety and independently produces high quality images.

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable Colorado state radiopharmaceutical licensing requirements, including possession, storage, use, and disposal of radioactive materials. Provide ongoing training and education to staff regarding radiopharmaceutical handling, radiation safety, and regulatory updates.

  • Monitors and enforces adherence to federal regulations, such as Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines, FDA regulations, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) standards related to nuclear medicine practices. Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures that meet or exceed state and federal regulations for radiation safety and quality assurance. Serve as a liaison between the department, regulatory agencies, and accrediting bodies during inspections and audits.

  • Conducts regular audits and inspections of equipment, records, and radiopharmaceutical use to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Maintains oversight of and ensure compliance with research protocols and high-dose therapy procedures.

  • Collaborates with Radiation Safety Officers (RSOs), medical physicists, authorized users and other healthcare professionals to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Supports patient care by overseeing scheduling, imaging protocols, and quality control of nuclear medicine studies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education- Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience -Minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience in nuclear medicine

  • Equivalency - Four years' experience above stated requirements may substitute for bachelor's degree.

  • Certification - BLS/CPR, Current certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB or ARRT(N))


Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $97,718.13 to $146,577.19
