Duties And Responsibilities

Purpose

Perform all activities necessary for QC Coating and Welding Inspection.

Functions

Welding Activities

• Procedure Verification : Review drawings (isometric / process), welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material specifications to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Material Inspection : Inspect base materials, welding filler materials, welding gases, and verify welding equipment calibration and certification records.
• Pre-Welding Inspection : Check fit-up, root gap, alignment, bevel angle, root face, joint cleanliness, filler material handling, temperature control, and other parameters as per the project requirements.
• Welding Monitoring : Monitor welding operations including pre-heating, root pass, hot pass, fill passes, heat input, inter-pass cleaning / dressing, and ensure adherence to approved welding procedures.
• Inspection Execution : Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of weld joints to ensure conformance to specified requirements.
• Inspection Tools : Utilize all necessary inspection tools and instruments to perform inspection tasks accurately.
• NDT Coordination : Coordinate with NDT technicians and oversee required non-destructive testing (NDT) activities.
• Client Coordination : Liaise with client representatives and ensure their presence for inspections in accordance with the ITP (Inspection & Test Plan).
• Documentation : Maintain detailed inspection records, document non-conformities, and prepare reports. Obtain signatures / approvals from all relevant parties as per the ITP.
• Item Release : Ensure all inspection activities and documentation are complete before releasing items for further processing.
• Quality Issue Resolution : Collaborate with project teams to resolve quality issues and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions.
• Technical Knowledge : Strong understanding of welding codes (ASME, API, AWS, DNV), inspection procedures, and NDT techniques.
• ADNOC Standards : Familiarity with ADNOC standards, procedures, and specifications.
• Problem-Solving : Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve quality-related issues efficiently and effectively.

BGAS Grades 3, 2, or 1

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering OR Diploma in Engineering
