Compensation : Compensation is defined by the collective bargaining agreement that governs this position. Current base compensation is at $21.98 / hourly for the first 90 days. Upon satisfactory performance evaluation compensation increases to $32.84 / hourly. Other rates may be applicable based on job duties assigned.

General Summary of Position

This is a skilled labor position for the oversight, set-up maintenance and operation of the facility and sound related equipment, responsible to maintain safe industry practices and to complete tasks directed by Venue & Production Management as well as show / event management. During events, this position acts as a liaison between the road and House crews and assists in providing venue information to show management, building management and crews to ensure successful events. This position is also required to operate high lifts, forklifts, and other equipment as requested. Additional responsibilities and tasks are assigned as directed by event request.

The Company recognizes the Local as the sole and exclusive bargaining agent for all employees of the Company who are classified as Stagehands, whether they are employed fulltime or intermittently, but excluding all other employees including guards and supervisors as defined in the national Labor Relations Act, as amended.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

This is a working position.

Review advances / show info from the venue Production Manager (PM) and will work with the PM to accommodate show needs.

Set-up, when requested, 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound.

Set-up, configure, operate house audio systems and equipment in assigned venues.

Maintain and service the house audio systems and equipment.

Assist in setup of orchestra pit and orchestra rehearsals.

Assist in setup of film screens & projection.

Implementing Productions sound design for shows / events as needed.

Communicate with clients as required for both upcoming and current events.

Guide crews as needed during load in / out and shows.

Learn and execute show cues as directed.

Maintain a safe working environment by conforming to established safety policies and procedures.

Perform maintenance and document repairs completed and needed repairs for management review.

Attend event and safety meetings as required.

Track daily duties, review event related emails and phone correspondence.

Participate in ongoing training, safety, cross training of facilities, other departments and other trainings as determined.

Assist in coordinating and supervising on-call stagehands.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Experience working from drawings, specifications and verbal requests to achieve desired service / product.

High school diploma or GED, required. Some college course work, preferred.

Three years or more of experience in supervisory role in related field, required.

Skills and Abilities

Establish and maintain effective working relations with clients and staff and communicate in a clear and concise manner in stressful situations.

General knowledge of production and theatre terminology, systems, and processes, including but not limited to audio, rigging (fly systems), electrical, lighting, carpentry safety, and procedures.

Experience working with production audio systems, microphones, and frequency coordination, and running a console for live theatre / events, including knowledge of principles of theatrical audio equipment, design methods, and programming, including signal flow, DiGiCo and Dante protocols, and power requirements preferred.

Production and / or fabrication experience, soldering, welding, painting, and carpentry skills preferred.

Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills among all levels of staff and clientele. Provide customer service in a professional, considerate manner.

Work effectively with diverse groups of people among all levels within an organization.

Perform leadership role and job tasks effectively, despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities.

Exceptional problem solving and organizational skills.
