SALARY : $55,000 - $65,000
Summary
The Program Specialist is a critical member of the Program Team of PeerForward, that is charged with cultivating and managing program delivery. This includes oversight and management of Peer Leader teams and school partnerships to ensure high quality delivery and implementation of PeerForward’s program and services. The Program Specialist supports Program Directors in the development of support from community stakeholders including local volunteers, community partners, school district officials, and higher education institutions. The Program Specialist may also supervise Program Implementation Specialist(s) as needed, providing oversight, guidance and support with their caseload of schools. The ideal candidate should reside in Oakland / Bay Area of California, as this role will be primarily engaged with students and schools in the Oakland / San Francisco Bay Area of California.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of 15-20 high schools and / or college teams in effective programmatic implementation required for partner school sites to :
Drive more students to complete actions that drive post-secondary awareness, enrollment, and persistence
Ensure optimal utilization of the PeerForward Method, technology and toolsInteraction will largely be via phone / text, email, or videoconference and school-based teams may be dispersed across multiple states.Coach educators and / or college partners serving as the advisors of the student teams, providing them with support and guidance to help facilitate the work of their student teams.Provide timely reporting and analysis of program data to inform strategy and tactics to achieve school-level program milestone and activity goals.Build and sustain positive working relationships with school / district / college leaders through transparent information sharing and reliable follow-through to effectively sustain the partnership over timeCollect, analyze, and leverage various programmatic data points to drive results for all partner school sitesBuild and sustain positive working relationships with school and district leaders through transparent information sharing and reliable follow-through to effectively sustain the partnership over timeResearch and maintain ongoing strategic information about school partners and shares critical information with the Directors of Program and Strategic Partnerships to support overall growth strategyWork with Program Directors to ensure contracts and related paperwork are completed in compliance to internal processes and external partnersqualifications / requirements
The ideal candidate should have knowledge of the high school and college marketplace, a solid understanding of the college application and admissions process and will have demonstrated experience in youth development, teacher training and professional development, and / or curriculum design and delivery. This person should also have a superior strategic planning approach to collaboration and strategy. While no one person will enumerate the qualifications below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences :
Bachelor’s Degree requiredExperience training and coaching high school students and educators in a high school, higher education institution, or education-related organization is a plusAn entrepreneurial self-starter, a creative thinker, and a risk taker with a proven track record of inspiring, persuading, and motivating broadly across an organizationKeen analytic ability with superb verbal and written communication and facilitation skills, with a demonstrated ability to present and sell material relevant to educators and educational coordinators and leadersStrong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the proven capacity to develop strategy, implement systems, and support others through the implementation of key mission critical tasksDeep familiarity with the K-12 and higher education field and with including the gravitas to communicate effectively with senior management of large school districts and / or post-secondary institutionsAn unshakable commitment to PeerForward’s values of passionate pursuit of leveraging peer influence, Youth Activation, campaign organizing and the PeerForward Method to bring about student-driven change, leadership development, and to drive organizational goals of increasing post-secondary access, enrollment, and persistence in under-served communities.Deep knowledge of and experience working within the local / national college access communityDemonstrated results with building partnership-based relationships and meeting clients' needsProven track record of driving results in an environment with complex deliverablesSolid understanding of the college application and admissions processesData-driven mindset, ability to read reports, and create reports as necessary with a goal of maximum performance outputStrong time management, task execution, organizational, interpersonal, presentation and writing skillsDemonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and influence diverse audiencesAbility to work collaboratively (virtually or in-person) in an innovative and entrepreneurial work environmentWillingness and the ability to travel up to 50% throughout the nationEnthusiasm for PeerForward’s mission of helping low-income students enroll and persist in college
