About the Role
Swap Health is seeking a full-time experienced Medical Biller who is highly proficient in processing insurance claims and billing procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes, including submitting claims, following up on unpaid claims, and ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement. While formal education is not required, a certification in medical billing is a plus. This role requires at least one year of hands-on experience in a medical billing environment.
Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance companies (electronically or by paper).
- Verify insurance coverage and patient eligibility.
- Follow up on denied or unpaid claims, and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
- Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
- Work closely with providers, office staff, and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all relevant billing regulations and payer requirements.
- Maintain organized records of all billing activities.
- Assist patients with billing inquiries when necessary.

Minimum one year of experience in medical billing, with a focus on claims processing.Strong knowledge of insurance guidelines, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding (does not require certification).Comfortable working with billing software and electronic medical records (EMR).High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Experience or comfortability working in a fully remote environmentEquipment : must have personal laptop or desktop with audio / video functionalityReliable internet connectionExperience with telehealth and / or experience in the medical nutrition space is a plusBenefits
