About Althought Therapy

Althought Therapy is a boutique psychology practice in Lakewood, Colorado, founded by Dr. Samantha Awalt, Licensed Psychologist.

We specialize in relationship-centered therapy for couples, parents, and individuals seeking meaningful, lasting change through depth-oriented psychological work.

Our approach integrates attachment theory, developmental psychology, neuroscience, and psychodynamic insight within a trauma-informed, emotionally attuned framework. We believe therapy is not just symptom reduction—it's about reorganizing internal systems, repairing relational patterns, and restoring emotional trust.

We're expanding our team to include psychologists who value clinical excellence, depth work, and a reflective, non-performative presence—professionals who understand that real change happens through attunement, precision, and humanity.

Position Summary

We're seeking a Clinical Psychologist (PhD or PsyD)—licensed or pre-licensed in Colorado—who is passionate about working with :

  • Couples and parents  navigating disconnection, communication breakdowns, and family stress
  • Individuals  exploring identity, trauma recovery, emotional regulation, and meaning-making within their relational context

This role involves complex systems work, often with high-functioning adults and couples dealing with relational trauma, emotional distance, or role transitions (e.g., parenthood, betrayal, identity loss, burnout).

Ideal candidates are clinically grounded, psychologically minded, and emotionally fluent—comfortable with both cognitive precision and emotional depth.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide psychotherapy to  couples, parents, and individual adults  (minimum  25 sessions per week  once caseload is full)
  • Conceptualize cases through a  relational-developmental lens , integrating attachment, systems, and neurobiological perspectives
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation (within 48 hours)
  • Participate in weekly clinical consultation and reflective case review
  • Engage in ongoing training and supervision in the  Althought Method , including internal workshops and collaborative formulation meetings
  • Contribute to client continuity planning and ethical termination processes
  • Therapeutic Orientation & Expectations

The work at Althought Therapy requires more than traditional "skills training." Clinicians must be :

  • Emotionally attuned :  tracking subtle shifts in affect and regulation

  • Integrative thinkers :  weaving neurobiological, attachment, and systems insights into live relational process
  • Relationally boundaried :  capable of deep empathy without overidentification
  • Reflective practitioners :  using supervision and self-inquiry as active components of clinical growth
  • You'll be working with clients who often present with chronic disconnection, shame, perfectionism, emotional shutdown, or relational rupture—and who require a clinician skilled at building safety, differentiation, and self-trust in the therapy room.

Non-Clinical Responsibilities (Included in Base Pay)

Clinicians dedicate 4–8 hours / week to the broader practice ecosystem, paid through a $1,000–$1,200 monthly administrative stipend.
