Reporting to the Distribution Manager, this safety-sensitive role supervises and monitors LTL operations. The position involves hands-on oversight using forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, and cherry picker), saws, pneumatic tools, hoists, pallet jacks, banders, and related equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare written instructions for LTL, truckload, and other shipping operations.
- Train employees across shifts on order packaging, shipping, and safety procedures.
- Oversee daily fulfillment to ensure on-time, same-day shipments.
- Participate in staffing activities including interviewing, performance reviews, and probation evaluations.
- Identify and resolve packaging, inventory, and shipping issues to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Supervise trailer loading and monitor shipping supply inventory.
- Maintain organized shipping and cable production areas; propose process improvements.
- Work with employees with work limitations and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
- Develop and present warehouse improvement proposals, including cost-benefit analyses for projects over $200.
- Understand and communicate departmental metrics and goals.
- Serve as backup to the Distribution Manager as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of PSS station and Hazmat procedures (or ability to be trained).Strong understanding of material handling, safety, and process controls.Experience supervising, training, and evaluating employees.Proficient with inventory management systems and recordkeeping.Skilled in problem-solving, planning, and communication.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate material handling equipment.Works independently with minimal supervision.Demonstrates mathematical accuracy and interpersonal effectiveness.Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.Minimum three years of warehouse experience.Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
