Primary Purpose
Under limited direction of the Associate Director of Housing Administration The Assistant Director for Housing Administration is responsible for assigning student housing and dining plans to residents to maximize revenue goals housing business operations key management and technology. The Assistant Director analyzes real-time assignments and makes determinations based on available space and required accommodations with the purpose of maximizing the long- and short-range occupancy plan of the Residential Life & Housing Auxiliary ( RLH ) using the housing management system. Essential Functions
Manages the online student housing application process room and meal plan assignments for all residence halls apartments and Greek facilities on both campuses (Sacramento and Stockton) for new and continuing students based on facility preference student demographics and required accommodations. Exercises independent judgement to determine scheduling based on occupancy (semester / trimester academic terms camps conferences guests) and leads communication with campus partners to ensure facility readiness. This includes but is not limited to facilitating cleanings and turnover of on-campus spaces in coordination with Physical Plant and the Associate Director of Resident / Dining Facilities. Communicates with campus partners to cohort students as requested by Athletics or academic program. Responsible for managing the housing room change process including emergency placements; completing audits to ensure occupancy accuracy unit availability and readiness and communicating room changes and updated rosters to Residential Life staff and campus partners including Mail Room and Public Safety. Ensures occupancy reports are accurate at all times for use in emergencies. Assists with execution of housing occupancy strategies including changes to policies and processes made by the University Division or Residential Life and Housing and fulfilling enrollment goals and projections. Creates and facilitates email communication through StarRez with all residential students on the Stockton campus. Ensures students are notified of critical deadlines regarding housing sign-ups move-in and move-out deadlines. Collaborates on marketing campaigns to promote on-campus housing. Implements accommodations approved by the Housing Petition Committee or Special Accommodation Request processes working with Residential Life and Housing staff and other campus partners (Services for Students with Disabilities Student Health Services Counseling & Psychological Services Care Team Title IX etc.) as needed. Be sensitive and in compliance with the needs requirements and laws pertaining to student accommodations. Utilizes StarRez to review student records and answer questions for students and parents regarding housing and dining charges cancellations refunds and damage billings on Students Account. Collaborates with and elevates issues to appropriate campus partners (Financial Aid Student Accounts Athletics International Programs) as needed to obtain resolution. Collaborates with Associate Director of Housing to determine software upgrades needed for updating agreements developing online tools implementing online processes and maintaining upgrades as necessary in StarRez. Collaborates in building housing operations dashboards and reports for StarRez pertaining to programming room / suite / bathroom agreements employment work requests inspections key / access. Takes StarRez trainings as needed to be a super-user. Audits and provides accurate occupancy reports by building to the One Card Office to ensure accuracy and appropriate security for building laundry and meal plan access to residents and staff in collaboration with Pacific Card for semesterly mass uploads as needed. Manages individual security access changes as needed throughout the year. Serves as part of the Residential Life and Housing team to devise execute and evaluate departmental goals policies organization and programs. Design coordinate and implement on-going housing assessment initiatives. Research and prepare a market analysis for housing in the Sacramento community surrounding the campus. Provides information and updates myPacific regarding Housing policies and procedures to staff parents students and other constituents in order to provide effective customer service and interface. Represents Residential Life and Housing on University committees and on special projects as appointed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledgeable about FAMIS EMS Banner StarRez and other housing related technology software programs. Ability to prioritize assignments and proactively communicate verbally and in writing issues requiring higher level input and decision making. Positive attitude and proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion. Perform other duties as assigned. This position serves as Campus Security Authority ( CSA ) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported them. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree (Two (2) years of full-time experience in the same / similar position is equal to one (1) year of completed post high school education coursework). Two (2) years of professional work experience in customer service operations or administration.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Student Affairs Higher Education Business Administration or related field. Four (4) years of experience in college or university housing operations administration or housing related profession. One (1) year experience working with StarRez software. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
