Job description

LocumJobsOnline is working with Barton Associates to find a qualified Neurosurgery MD in Illinois!

About The Position

We are seeking a board-certified Neurosurgeon for a 14-day locum tenens assignment in Illinois starting Jan 5, 2026. This opportunity features 24-hour call shifts with responsibilities including call coverage, rounding, and post-op follow-up for head and spine cases at a trauma facility.

Job Details

  • Location : Illinois
  • Start Date : Jan 5, 2026
  • LOA : 14 days
  • Provider Type Needed : Neurosurgeon
  • Schedule : 24-hour call shifts (7a-7a) on the following dates : Jan 1-5, Jan 15-16, Jan 19-23, Jan 30-31; daily rounding at 7a / 8a; surgical volume averages 0-1 case per day

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide call coverage for head and spine cases, including consults, operations, and procedures from ED and inpatient requests
  • Manage trauma cases at a facility
  • Round on service patients each morning (4-10 patients)
  • Conduct post-operative follow-up in the outpatient clinic
  • Perform bread and butter neurosurgical procedures involving head and spine

    • Additional Information

  • Board certification in Neurological Surgery required
  • Illinois state medical license required
  • Temporary credentials available to facilitate January start
  • 30-minute response time required during call shifts
