American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Stepdown / Telemetry position in an acute care setting, requiring a WV or compact RN license and 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an 18-bed Intermediate Medical Unit (IMU) stepdown unit within an acute care hospital
  • Patient population includes post-MI, post-op vascular, GI bleed, DKA, and similar stepdown cases
  • Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 3
  • Care for patients with titratable drips including Nitroglycerine, Neosynephrine, and Cardene
  • Use of EpicCare Inpatient EMR system
  • All patients are monitored via telemetry; RNs are required to read strips
  • BiPAP and CPAP equipment used on the unit
  • Twelve-hour night shifts with weekend and holiday coverage scheduled every other
  • Floats to other units as needed
  • RNs are responsible for comprehensive patient monitoring and titration of critical drips
  • Support staff includes one PCT per shift, with charge nurse or house supervisor presence
  • Royal blue scrubs are required attire
  • Holiday shifts are assigned per facility holiday schedule
  • Returning travelers must have a two-year break from any WVU Medicine facility before re-applying, and cumulative travel assignments within WVU cannot exceed one year without a two-year break
  • No local travelers; applicants must live more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Unit-specific orientation is provided
  • First-time travelers may be considered

    • Requirements

  • Active WV or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent stepdown or telemetry nursing experience
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Ability to titrate vasoactive drips as specified
  • Must pass EKG testing specific to stepdown units
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
