Job Responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles (GASB) and practices.
- Demonstrated auditing experience, including preparation for annual financial audits and coordination with external auditors.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard public funds.
- High level of efficiency in accounting practices, reconciliations, and compliance with applicable laws.
- Strong customer services orientation when dealing with the public, employees, and outside agencies.
- Ability to foster a team-oriented environment and work collaboratively across departments.
- Skilled in balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
- Experience in human resource management functions, including payroll processing, leave administration, and compliance with payroll laws.
- Familiarity with employee performance management, including evaluations, disciplinary actions, and terminations in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws related to payroll, benefits, and labor compliance.
- Commitment to promoting a professional growth environment by identifying training, conference, and networking opportunities, enhancing employee engagement, and supporting staff development.
- Ability to manage onboarding processes, conduct new employee orientations, and clearly explain or review organizational policies.
