Role Overview

The General Manager is the driving force behind Varsity Mulchings day-to-day success. Your focus will be on sales, team leadership, and operational alignment ensuring that daily execution reflects our broader mission and standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position that blends sales management, team coordination, and strategic execution. Youll manage customer relationships, guide crew leads through daily meetings, and ensure that every job runs efficiently and meets Varsity Mulchings premium standards.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Client Management

  • Manage inbound leads and drive outbound outreach to meet revenue goals
  • Deliver accurate, timely, and transparent quotes
  • Maintain a high close rate through excellent follow-up and communication
  • Build strong customer relationships to secure annual renewals

    • Operations & Team Leadership

  • Hold daily meetings with crew leads to align on job schedules, priorities, and quality expectations
  • Oversee job readiness : materials, routes, equipment, and manpower
  • Monitor productivity and ensure all work meets Varsity Mulchings standards of quality and professionalism
  • Problem-solve in real time to keep operations running smoothly

    • Strategic Alignment

  • Translate company goals into daily objectives and measurable outcomes
  • Uphold the Varsity Mulching brand and culture of discipline, growth, and integrity
  • Collaborate directly with ownership to improve systems, training, and performance tracking

    • Ideal Candidate

  • 2+ years of leadership, sales, or management experience (landscaping or service industry preferred)
  • 2+ years of landscaping experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable managing people and making decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on growth and excellence
  • Valid drivers license (ability to drive a truck / trailer preferred)
