Responsibilities Work in a 30-bed Med / Surg Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital Patient population includes general medical, orthopedic, and trauma stepdown cases with some COVID patients Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4 for both day and night shifts Use GE telemetry monitors and central monitoring station tech support Shift is 12 hours, nights, with 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period Floating required to MedSurg Tele C5 and B2C units Cerner is the EMR used on the unit Charge nurse and unit supervisor provide support, with PCTs on days and task RN or PCT at night Responsibilities include titrating amiodarone and cardizem, caring for chest tubes, wound vacs, and peritoneal dialysis patients Spectralink phones are used for communication and call light response Navy scrubs are required RT and pharmacy support available 24 / 7 Soft restraints may be used for patients at risk of line pulling Candidates must pass both dysrhythmia and sterile technique tests to begin assignment Holiday coverage includes one major and one minor holiday First-time travelers are not excluded from consideration Requirements Active RN license (state or compact); pending licenses not accepted Minimum 2 years of recent (within past 6 months) Med / Surg Tele experience Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Must be able to read telemetry strips and pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (maximum two attempts) Pass / fail simulation lab required on day one of orientation Candidates must provide a copy of their driver's license for consideration Two references required : one supervisor reference from the past year, and one peer or supervisor reference from the past three years Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility if residing in AZ, NV, NE, IA, or MN Not eligible if employed by the associated health system within the past year Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-599474.
