Safety Services Officer (Eligibility List)
Patrol University property to ensure compliance with university policies, local, state, and federal laws, and to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls to protect people and property from crimes or hazards. May be assigned to any shift, including holidays and weekends.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Patrol University property in a vehicle or on foot to provide security and traffic control.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency radio calls.
- Assist at the scene of first-aid incidents or accidents; take and write incident / accident reports, including missing / stolen property and criminal activity reports.
- Assist with accident and crime investigations, secure incident scenes, and prepare associated reports and documents.
- Provide escort services for visitors, students, staff, faculty, and individuals, and offer public assistance.
- Provide building security, including locking and unlocking doors.
- Write and file daily activity reports with a superior officer.

Demonstrated ability and willingness to live and uphold the University's Christ-centered mission and values.Will work shift assignments as required, including holidays and weekends.Conduct crime deterrence and prevention programs.Complete accident and criminal investigations.Provide protection services to individuals on campus.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community.Knowledge of laws, regulations, methods, and techniques related to security.React calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Skill in building security and lock procedures.Use personal computers and related software applications.Make judgment calls on sensitive or confidential issues.Thorough knowledge of Business English and general office methods.Read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.Use independent judgment and manage confidential information.Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.Excellent telephone courtesy and experience.Interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.Create, compose, and edit written materials.Resolve customer complaints and concerns.Investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.Wear a department issued body-armor ballistic vest at all times while in uniform.Education and / or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 3 years of related experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
