Deputy Chief

Under the direction of the Facilities and Asset Management Division (FAM) Chief of the Office of the Attorney General, the Deputy Chiefs work will involve highly advanced managerial activities for the agencys FAM Division, including operational oversight of the division, providing subject matter expertise, ensuring the resolution of inquiries and complaints from internal and external inquiries, and performing and assisting with executive functions within the division, such as the establishment and monitoring of division goals.

Essential Position Functions

• Operational Oversight
• Assists the Chief in overseeing all activities of the division, including human resources, administrative, and organizational problems within the division; and planning, coordinating, and maintaining production schedules within the division
• Leadership Functions
• Reviews production and establishes or assists in establishing standards for division operations that are consistent with the agencys strategic plan; develops, recommends, and implements policies, procedures, and plans to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of division operations as well as for ensuring division objectives are met; and identifies or assists in identifying budgetary needs and develops budgetary estimates designed to meet division requirements
• Outward Facing / Consulting
• Coordinates and ensures the resolutions of inquiries and complaints from internal and external customers; participates in special projects, negotiations, and strategic planning; briefs agency managers and Executive Administration on agency program matters; may testify before the Texas Legislature, as required; and monitors and ensures compliance with state, federal, and local laws and policies

Performs related work as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Graduation from high school or equivalent

Education : Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis : management

Experience : 10 years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields : facilitates management, strategic planning, management

Knowledge of Facilities Administration

Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines

Skill in effective oral and written communication

Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making

Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback

Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment

Ability to provide excellent customer service

Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)

Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel

Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA

Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.

Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 15%

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in property management, asset management, accounting, contract management, fulfillment operations, warehouse operations, and move logistics

Experience in leading diverse teams in multi-faceted and fast paced environments

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to a business function, division, or department; and of the principles and practices of public administration and management

Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

Ability to collaboratively work with other state and federal agencies to adapt requirements that fit the unique OAG structure
