Job description

Overview

Blue Origin Operations is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, including Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. We are seeking dynamic Manufacturing Engineers to join our Operations team. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics for lunar and spacecraft hardware. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, reduce costs, and accelerate build timelines, contributing to continuous improvement of manufacturing techniques.

This role is a pooling requisition for current and anticipated openings across multiple Lunar teams, shifts, and locations. Candidates will be matched to the right roles as needs are identified.

Key Details

  • Shifts : A | Mon-Fri (6am-2 : 30pm)
  • Location : Space Coast, FL
  • Relocation : Available
  • Potential travel : Up to 10% for training and related activities

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the industrialization of new flight and payload hardware (solar arrays, avionics, structures, mechanisms, integration & test, GSE, and more).
  • Drive application and optimization of DFM, DFA, DFT across product lifecycle.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations to integrate products and accelerate build.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation (work instructions, inspection plans, process flows, tooling).
  • Evaluate / implement new manufacturing technologies (composites, advanced machining, additive, metrology, materials, automation).
  • Lead and document root cause investigations and drive corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance to standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, NASA, UL, AWS, etc.).
  • Own or support process FMEAs, risk assessments, equipment validation, and product qualification.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction; advocate Lean / DFx principles.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and technicians; represent Manufacturing Engineering in reviews.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or related
  • Manufacturing Engineering experience (levels vary by years : 0-3 years Level I, 3+ Level II, 5+ Level III, 8+ Level IV)
  • Experience creating clear manufacturing documentation (work instructions, BOM, flow diagrams)
  • Ability to work required shift and site, with flexibility for extended shifts / overtime
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or advanced degree
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, PMP, or equivalent
  • Domain-specific experience as listed in job description (Thermal / Fluid, Structures & GSE, Solar Arrays / Avionics, AIT)
  • Proficiency in NX, CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, Teamcenter, Windchill, PLM / MRP
  • Experience with metrology, automation, and DFx / analytical evaluation
  • Strong cross-functional communication and leadership experience
  • Record of mission assurance and continuous improvement
