Description : Job Summary
Reports to the Senior Communication Supervisor of PSCC. Responsible for the efficient operation of the communication and dispatch function of the shift at PSCC. This includes the call taker as well as radio position.
Major Essential Duties
- Supervise and manage their respective shift of assigned communication personnel
- Responsible for maintaining proper staffing of the communication positions for the entire shift
- Participate in communications shift supervisor meetings to ensure consistency and uniformity throughout the Communications Section
- Reports all problems and possible disciplinary actions to the Senior Communications Supervisor
- Responsible for the evaluation of Communication Section personnel assigned to shift
- Responsible for monitoring and documenting Large Scale / Multi Agency Events
- Assists in the development of all Standard Operating Procedures for dispatch
- Ensures shift personnel are trained and comply with all standard operating procedures of the communication section
- Responsible for performing 2nd party checks on Wanted / Missing Person and all items entered into LINK / NCIC
- Ensures good relations with First Responders and Neighboring Jurisdictions
- Other duties as assigned

Assist Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) PositionEnsure Radio and Phone Equipment are in proper working orderReport any problems with communication equipment in a timely fashionPreparing Daily Shift ReportSupervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for Shift PersonnelEnsure all Shift Personnel are kept up to date on policies and procedures as they pertain to their dutiesProvide weekly trainingReport on all problems and possible disciplinary actions to the Senior Communications SupervisorRelationships
Communications Shift Supervisor performs duties within the PSCC under the direction of the Senior Communications Supervisor and DirectorRequirements : Qualifications
Education and / or Experience
Graduate of standard high school, or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Criminal Justice / Fire / EMS TelecommunicatorLanguage Skills
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writingMathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divideReasoning Skills
Ability to solve practical problemsCertificates, Licenses, Registrations
State Telecommunicator Certification (TIPS)Criminal Justice Information Systems Certification (CJIS)Appropriate National Incident Management Certifications (NIMS)Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD)Other Knowledge and / or Skills
Knowledge of Radio, CAD systems and misc Communications EquipmentAbility to keep accurate recordsStrong file organizational skillsAbility to perform and complete tasks with little to no supervisionPhysical Demands
The Employee could reasonably be expected to sit, stand, walk and hear. Use hands and arms to reach, type, handle paper and file.
