As a Health Aide within the Coastal Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
All Coastal Health District County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and / or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
Prepares and collects lab specimens, order / ship lab supplies, check patient vital signs, assist with clinic flow and clinicians as needed. Additional responsibilities include performing clerical and laboratory duties, i.e., providing testing, counseling, and linkage to care related to HIV, performing tests such urinalysis, pregnancy, and hemoglobin checks; cleaning equipment, performing test controls, completing CLIA proficiency testing, as well as data entry for vitals and orders.
High School diploma / GED and six (6) months of experience in a related field; one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Health Aide 1 (HCS020) or position equivalent. Preferred Qualifications : One or more years of experience in health services delivery. Possession of a license or certificate in a health services delivery field (e.g., certified nursing assistant, emergency medical technician).
