We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable and Payroll Manager on behalf of our client, an organization based in the Sacramento area. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Finance Department, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. The Accounts Payable and Payroll Manager ensures timely execution of payroll and accounts payable functions, maintains robust financial controls, and contributes to strategic initiatives through dependable reporting and team leadership.

Salary : $90k-$115k.(DOE)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Lead and oversee daily departmental operations, ensuring compliance with agency policies and maintaining system efficiency across all functions.
- Supervise staff performance and development, including hiring, onboarding, training, and conducting timely evaluations to support professional growth.
- Monitor and report on departmental effectiveness, identifying deficiencies, proposing corrective actions, and communicating regularly with executive leadership.
- Establish and maintain financial controls and procedures, ensuring timely month-end closings, accurate ledger management, and adherence to accounting standards.
- Generate and analyze financial reports, including reconciliations, audits, and budget comparisons, to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate records and aligning financial practices with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Foster a positive and professional work environment, providing ongoing guidance, modeling appropriate conduct, and resolving employee relations concerns constructively.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS :
Educational background in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, with progressive experience ranging from high school diploma (10+ years) to master's degree (1+ year) in managerial roles.Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in Payroll and Accounts Payable, with demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in execution.Proficient in financial software and tools, including advanced Excel skills, Microsoft Office Suite, Sage, and budget analysis platforms.Strong budgeting and financial management capabilities, with the ability to create, monitor, and adjust budgets aligned with organizational goals.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, lead teams, and foster collaborative relationships across all levels.Demonstrated emotional intelligence and professionalism, with a commitment to confidentiality, team building, and respectful workplace conduct.Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and uphold accounting principles and compliance standards.
