Life Science Research Professional I (Onsite)

Contract Duration : 1 year
Schedule : Full-time, 30–40 hours per week
Location : Onsite in Palo Alto, CA
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, local to the Bay Area, and able to work onsite, as no sponsorship or relocation is available.
We are seeking a Life Science Research Professional I on behalf of our client to support research focused on nerve injury, nerve regeneration, and regenerative neurobiology. This position involves conducting experiments in a wet lab environment, analyzing data, contributing to scientific publications, and supporting day-to-day lab operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, scientifically curious, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with a lead Research Scientist.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently conduct complex wet-lab experiments for ongoing research projects.
- Interpret and analyze experimental results, making adjustments to protocols when necessary.
- Develop new research procedures when existing protocols are insufficient.
- Participate in multidisciplinary research teams as needed.
- Perform regular literature reviews to stay current with emerging research and methods.
- Contribute meaningfully to scientific papers, data sections, and presentations.
- Assist with preparation of data for manuscripts and grant submissions.
- Support budget oversight for lab supplies and equipment under the direction of the lead scientist.
- Provide informal guidance or supervision to students or junior staff.
- Serve as a technical resource for other lab personnel.
- Maintain daily lab operations, including inventory, chemical safety records, and general equipment upkeep.
- Assist with purchasing laboratory supplies and equipment.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Neurobiology / Neuroscience, Bioengineering, or related field with substantial laboratory coursework; OR a Master’s degree in a related discipline.Required : Minimum of 2 years of hands-on wet lab technician / assistant experience.Desired : Interest in neuro-regeneration research and developing treatments for facial paralysis.Desired : Experience working with vertebrate animal models (mouse or rat).Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiency in cell culture and aseptic technique.Ability to perform work accurately with minimal supervision.Strong analytical abilities and sound scientific judgment.Excellent organizational skills for managing samples and maintaining precise lab records.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to quickly learn and use laboratory software, databases, and scientific applications.Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical scientific principles to troubleshoot experiments.Ability to meet deadlines with general direction provided.Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, grasping, and fine manipulation.Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items over 40 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.Ability to stand or move on hard surfaces for extended periods (up to eight hours).Correctible vision required for laboratory work.May require repetitive motions and tasks requiring protective equipment (PPE).Working Conditions
