The Patient Care Technician professional assists with patient care to provide support services to the patient, nursing unit, and professional staff. Your Job Requirements : Graduate from a certified Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, or Medical Assistant Program Or 1 year experience as a nursing assistant in a comparable healthcare facility Or nursing student who documents completion of the first semester of the nursing program Or documented military experience as a medic / corpsman Or foreign nursing graduate not currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Or EMT Certification / Paramedic License Experience American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support card required High school diploma or GED required Your Job Responsibilities : Communicate clearly and openly Build relationships to promote a collaborative environment Be accountable for your performance Always look for ways to improve the patient experience Take initiative for your professional growth Be engaged and eager to build a winning team Additional Job Description : Category B : Employee with patient care impact. Maintains clean work environment, adequate equipment and supplies : Equipment is kept in good working condition; related supplies are kept clean, and are at desired par levels. Performs patient care activities delegated and supervised by the professional staff : Activities of daily living such as baths, oral hygiene, and oral feedings performed to satisfaction of patient and professional staff; Patient mobility performed (i.e. turning, lifting, moving) utilizing appropriate safety measures to prevent patient and self-injury; Patient meals and nourishments are offered, administered, and recorded in a timely manner; Assists Nursing staff with admission, discharge, transfer, and transport of patients. Respond effectively in emergencies and assists in prevention of patient injury : Initiates CPR when appropriate; Utilizes side rails and restraints to prevent patient injury; Reports to professional staff patients at increased risk for injury.
