Job Description
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital role in our residential treatment program. As part of the treatment team, the BHT provides direct care, life skills training, psychoeducation, and behavioral health support to adult residents experiencing mental health and/or co-occurring disorders. The BHT works collaboratively with clinical staff to ensure the safety, stability, and therapeutic success of each resident.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide direct behavioral health services to residents including:
- Psychoeducational group sessions and life skills training
- Crisis intervention and behavior management
- Assistance in the self-administration of medication
- Record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, oxygen level, and weight)
- Document services in the facilitys Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Participate in clinical oversight/supervision, staff meetings, and quality improvement efforts
- Collaborate with medical providers, nurses, and BHPs to implement treatment plans
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma
- Experience working with behavioral health and/or co-occurring disorders
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Crisis prevention training
- Fingerprint clearance card (Level 1)
- Adult Protective Services Verification
- Negative TB screening
- Valid AZ Class D Drivers License with a good driving record
Preferred:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or related field
- Familiarity with psychotropic medications and behavioral health treatment modalities
