Part Time - News Lab Journalist - Communications

Join Penn State University's Bellisario Media Center as a Student Journalist in the News Lab for the Fall 2025 / Spring 2026 academic year. Positions are 10–15 hours per week, often evenings and weekends. Undergraduates who have passed course 260W are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• Work individually and collaboratively with News Lab members to address coverage gaps statewide and with newsrooms across the state and nation.
• Participate in weekly editorial meetings, conduct reportage, and work with the editorial team to produce professional‑quality journalism and meet deadlines.
• Produce in‑depth investigative and feature journalism focused on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Assist in training sessions that support professional skills development for newsroom program staff.

Work Hours & Location

Positions are part‑time (10–15 hrs / week) with flexible scheduling. Approval of remote or hybrid work is not guaranteed; see the university’s notice for out‑of‑state applicants.
