Description :

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame.

The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources.

Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.

The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.

Up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is maintained to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.

An initial assessment is completed upon patient admission, and an appropriate plan of care is developed in accordance with unit standards.

The plan of care is based on patient and family needs.

The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.

Modifications to the plan of care are made based upon continuous evaluation.

The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and / or correcting safety hazards and incidents.

Communication with others is conducted directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.

Constructive feedback is offered to assist in the professional development of peers, and collaboration with colleagues is encouraged to expand knowledge base.

The RN identifies their own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions.

All requirements of departmental competencies are fulfilled.

Travelers in this position will be responsible for unit keys that must be returned upon completion of the assignment.

Failure to return these keys within the specified timeframe will result in a fee.
