Job descriptionBachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related science Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience (for Technologist level consideration) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail with solid communication and organizational skills Proficient with computers; laboratory information system experience is a plus Must pass a standardized color vision screening Willingness to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed Ability to lift / move up to 25 lbs Full body mobility with corrected vision and hearing as needed Ability to handle fast-paced or production-based demands Work performed in a climate-controlled testing lab Possible exposure to toxic or hazardous materials Occasional domestic travel may be required when subpoenaed for legal testimony or to visit other laboratory sites May be asked to work varying shifts or weekends based on operational needs Entry-level candidates with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree may be considered
Lab Tech Aide – 2nd Shift
Location : Altavista, VA
Contract Length : 10 Months
Pay : $18.35 / hr.
Schedule : Monday–Friday | 3 : 00 PM – 11 : 30 PM
About the Role
Join a forensic toxicology laboratory environment where you’ll support sample preparation, testing, and equipment operation for GC / MS confirmation analysis. This is a great opportunity for science graduates looking to gain hands-on laboratory experience in a regulated setting.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare and extract samples for GC / MS confirmation testing
- Safely operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
- Prepare, test, and evaluate reagents, controls, and calibrators per SOPs and regulatory guidelines
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Make sound technical decisions during testing and problem-solving
- Manage storage and restocking of laboratory supplies
- Follow all confidentiality, safety, and security protocols
- Wear appropriate PPE and maintain a clean, safe lab environment
