Finance Manager
The Finance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of Hospice of Humboldt. This position manages day-to-day financial operations, supports strategic financial planning, and ensures compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and healthcare regulations. The Finance Manager collaborates closely with the Chief Operating Officer and leadership team to align financial practices with the organization's mission and goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Provide direct supervision for the Finance Coordinator.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Develop and monitor organizational budgets in collaboration with department leaders.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, as well as internal financial policies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and investment accounts.
- Support grant management and reporting, including tracking restricted funds.
- Assist with annual audits and coordinate with external auditors.
- Provide transparent financial reports and insights to the CEO, COO, Board of Directors and Budget and Finance Committee (board sub-committee) to inform decision-making.
- Maintain and improve internal financial controls and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.At least one (1) year of experience in financial management.Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance.Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.Strong interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills.Commitment to compassionate care and the mission of hospice.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in hospice, palliative care or home health care industry.Non-profit experience.Familiarity with Medicare / Medicaid reimbursement, particularly in hospice or home health settings.
