Laboratory Technician and Metal Tester in Cedar Rapids for temporary FMLA position. 12-hour, rotating shift position working 3 days one week, and 4 days the following week.

6pm to 6am or 7pm to 7am (.70 shift differential)

$19.50 / hr plus

Purpose :

The Lab Technician will be responsible for providing technical support for the production departments.

Primary Duties :

• Complete mechanical and dimensional testing of metal samples following work instructions and ASTM specifications (tensile Strength, rockwell hardness, grain size, coating thickness, etc.).
• Utilize router, shear, and other small power tools to shape samples to required dimensions. Prepare and analyze solid metal samples for chemical composition.
• Enter data accurately and completely to record test results and communicate those results to required parties. Maintain associated databases as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance and calibration to keep test equipment in good working order.
• Maintain retention sample inventory for required intervals.
• Support Quality and R&D departments with special testing protocols.
• Any other duties as assigned.
