The Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated electrical engineer to join Suffolk Design, Suffolk Construction’s in‑house architecture and engineering team, to work on various design and engineering projects. As an electrical engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and coordinating electrical systems and components for buildings, infrastructure, and mission critical facilities. You will also collaborate with other engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to ensure the quality and safety of the electrical systems and meet the project requirements and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems and components for buildings, infrastructure, and industrial facilities, using CAD software and industry standards.
• Perform calculations, simulations, and analysis of electrical systems and components, such as power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, communication, and control systems.
• Prepare and review electrical drawings, specifications, reports, and documents, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and client requirements, and evaluate electrical system designs for completeness, constructability, and conformance with cost / schedule goals.
• Coordinate and communicate with other engineers, architects, contractors, and clients, to resolve technical issues, provide technical support, and ensure the integration and coordination of electrical systems with other disciplines.
• Conduct site visits, inspections, and testing of electrical systems and components, to verify the installation, operation, and performance of the systems and identify any defects or problems.
• Manage and monitor the electrical design and engineering budget, schedule, and quality, and report the progress and status of the project to the management and the client.
• Ensure the compliance with the health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations, and follow the best practices and ethical standards of the electrical engineering profession.
• Research and evaluate new technologies and trends in the field of electrical engineering and propose innovative solutions to improve the quality and sustainability of the electrical systems and components.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and / or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
