Job Description

The Endoscopy Technician II is a crucial member of the healthcare team responsible for the infection prevention of endoscope preparation critical for patient safety. Key responsibilities include :

• Reprocessing of endoscopes, demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to preclean, leak test, decontaminate, inspect, disinfect, transport, and store endoscopes in accordance with industry standards, guidelines, and regulations.
• Providing assistance to nurses and physicians during procedures, including setting up procedure rooms, testing equipment, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Maintaining a professional working relationship with all members of the unit and promoting positive public relations for the hospital.
• Observing and maintaining isolation precautions, following hand washing guidelines, and utilizing two patient identifiers when caring for patients.
• Initiating and maintaining a friendly, professional, courteous, and respectful rapport with patients, responding to patient needs in a timely manner, and following HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Enhancing the attitude and teamwork of the unit to help facilitate a positive work environment, working as a team member, and accepting assignments without hesitation.
• Maintaining the skill level needed for an Endoscopy technician by completing all yearly unit and hospital-based competencies and annual mandatory training, and demonstrating personal and professional growth.
