Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele Float Pool night position requiring at least two years of recent experience and a WV or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care hospital setting, floating to all inpatient units including med / surg, step-down, and ICU based on competencyCare for a diverse patient population including cardiac, ortho / neuro, surgical, and medical cases, with ratios depending on unit (med / surg 1 : 6, step-down 1 : 4-5, ICU 1 : 2-3)Float Pool position with 12-hour night shifts; every other weekend required; holidays as neededCpap and BiPap available on all units; ventilators in ICU; chronic trach vents in step-down unitsTelemonitoring in units with monitor techs and RNs responsible for reading strips in select unitsMust be able to titrate drips in step-down areas, including heparin, Cardizem, nitro, insulin, and several othersUses Epic EMR for documentationPosition requires flexibility to work in various inpatient units based on staffing needs and clinical competencyTravelers will be part of a float pool team with robust PCT support and supervision from charge nurses and a 24 / 7 house supervisorUnit-specific orientation consists of 3-4 shiftsRoyal blue scrubs are requiredRTO must be discussed during the interview processNo local travelers accepted within 50 miles of the facilityApplicants who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before reapplying; cumulative experience limit of one year with a required 2-year break afterwardsPass / fail EKG testing required for those floating to PCU, ICU, and step-down unitsRequirements
Active WV or compact RN license requiredCurrent ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications requiredMinimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg experience required; step-down experience preferredAbility to float to med / surg, step-down, and ICU units as neededRequired to read telemetry strips in certain unitsMust provide a driver’s license with current permanent address for considerationBenefits
