OVERVIEW:
Responsible for performing fluoroscopy (C-arm) procedures in the operating room. Also responsible for participating in preoperative assessment of the patient, including C-arm procedures. Maintains and documents equipment are properly calibrated. Maintains log of all C-arm procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Center by following policies and procedures, participating as a team member, and respecting patient rights.
- Contributes to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, including risk management, performance evaluation, and QAPI activities.
- Communicates effectively with supervisors, physicians, coworkers, patients, and families, ensuring respectful, professional, and accurate information-sharing.
- Maintains professional competence through continuing education, committee participation, and active engagement in staff meetings and in-services.
- Adheres to all safety procedures, reports hazards or noncompliance, and responds appropriately in emergency situations.
- Provides care appropriate to patients’ age groups, accurately interpreting data and responses, involving families in decision-making when necessary.
- Completes duties for radiological procedures including:
o Assembling required supplies and positioning aids per physician preference
o Testing and monitoring equipment for proper working condition
o Confirming proper shielding of all persons in the room before activating C-arm
o Applying aseptic technique, OSHA guidelines, and manufacturer specifications during procedures
o Remains available during the procedure to provide timely response to physician or patient needs.
- Performs required maintenance of radiology equipment, ensuring proper cleaning, care, storage, calibration, and safe handling.
- Maintains a clean, organized work environment to ensure availability and safety of equipment.
- Responds promptly to physician and patient needs, documenting accurately and communicating patient status to the care team.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support patient care and organizational needs.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two (2) years of radiology technician experience preferred
- A.A.R.T. certification required
- BLS certification required
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment
