Armed Security Guard Position
Provide armed security guard services at the FAA William J Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey.
Pay Transparency / Compensation :
- $29.22 / hour Regular Pay Rate
- $5.56 / hour Health and Welfare Pay Rate
Responsibilities :
Provide security protection and access control for all government property, classified material, and personnel within assigned areas of responsibility to preclude unauthorized access, theft, or intentional destruction.Report / respond to unusual or emergency situations.Be alert for potential security, property or safety concerns and initiate the appropriate actions.Control ingress / egress into and / or out of posted / controlled / security areas.Prevent / report all violations of security and safety rules and regulations.Respond to protective alarm signals or other unusual / suspicious activities.Maintain a working knowledge of all security and guard orders, written and oral, pertaining to the assigned duties.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications :
US Citizenship is requiredHigh School education or GEDAt least 21 years oldMust be able to pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screenTwo (2) years' prior work experience in armed security or equivalent in the military or law enforcementEffective oral and written communication abilityNJ driver's licenseNJ State Armed Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) licenseNJ State Firearms Permit to CarryPhysically fit and in good general health without any physical defects or abnormalities, able to perform guard duties and pass a physical abilities testAbility to handle office related material such as, computer equipment, printout paper, notebooks, ledgers, badge printer.Must be able to obtain a Department of Homeland Security Suitability certification.Working Conditions and Physical Requirements :
Duties require lifting more than 10 pounds, bending twisting, standing and some activities that involve standing for long periods of time, often without breaksRequires conducting foot patrols and response to alarms in varied weather conditionsWork will require some sort of physical activity frequently, often up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects / gearMust have visual and audio acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, machines such as fire equipment and apparatuses, firearms and clearing barrels.May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather (hot and cold)Subject to high noise levelsSubject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicalsMay be required to be fitted for and / or wear a respiratorMay be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk-up inclines and on uneven terrain
